I was asked last night what is the right job to do for a IT graduate. Ouch, tough call.
I never remember how i get into IT in the first place or more like why i want to.... i got a degree with programming....
I told her, it is probably doesn't matter unless you are having a hope to get a certan job, like Doctors, Engineers...etc... else just make sure you dont hate the job you plan to apply by understand the nature of the job.....like technical, customer oriented, "pau-ka-liow" type or "Smiling face tiger" (siu-min-fu) type...etc...
Most of the time i believe you will only know what you want to do after 6-12 mths of your first job... so i dunno, i dont have the answer for her..... :)
Then i was asked by another person today whether to try another job. If you are already on a job, the choice is simpler...
1) do the next job give you someting you want?
2) how badly you want to move out of current job?
Last, do you capable of doing that job?
I normally like to hire a person who shows he/she willing to do the job. The skillset, experience are secondary.
if the next job has what you want, go for it :) If you are in a good environment where changing jobs are not limited, why worry? :) Opportunity to move will come again if this is not your best job or dream job :)
