Recently apart from internal house clean-up, i have been actively hiring from the market. Again, can clearly see the differences between in-kei or del-kei than my current company. It is triple the effort and quite hard to compete even in software development world.
First, the reputation is a key culprit as many knew the history of this company.
Second, the lecturers in USM has recently pushed up the fresh graduates salary (by brainwashing those poor students) to RM2.5k which even in KL is hard to get for fresh graduates unless you are top student in Dean list from some respectable schools/university or working in some key fields like Engineering students.
Third, my company only focus on Java which the whole world (ok, i am exaggerating) is pushing (by Microsoft) to go .Net. (Java is from Sun Microsystem). So the talent pool is very small here in Northern part of Malaysia. If I have to recruit folks from outstation, i have to be prepare to pay higher salary... (where got ppl take pay cuts to work? :P)
So it is difficult and tough. But so far I still manage to hire two, and need 5 more in various areas.... go go go... time is running out for me. ^^;
